Lancaster & Morecambe Athletics Club is organising their popular Christmas Festive Fun Run from their clubhouse on the athletics track at Salt Ayre Leisure Centre, near Lancaster (LA1 5JS) again this year. It will be on Friday December 27th at 11.00am. The Run is aimed at families and fun runners as well as more regular competitors. There will be a great atmosphere and a super festive medal for all finishers and runners are very welcome to run in fancy dress. This year’s Remembrance Sunday falls on 10th November (2019) and a number of services have been arranged in the Lancaster district. Everyone is welcome to go along to remember all who died for their country in the two World Wars and also those who served in more recent operations in Afghanistan, Bosnia and Iraq. Remembrance Sunday services will take place as follows: Lancaster Garden of Remembrance, Town Hall, Lancaster starting at 10.30am, followed by a service in the Priory Church at 11.30am. Thousands descended upon Lancaster at the weekend to enjoy this year’s magical two night festival of light and art in the city. Delivered by Lancaster Arts City, Lancaster City Council and Lancaster BID, the city’s seventh Light Up Lancaster event drew inspiration from this year’s theme ‘Into the Skies’ to celebrate the 50th Anniversary of the moon landing. Morecambe’s Promenade Concert Orchestra celebrates its 50th concert this November by reviving musical memories of a classic radio programme. Those Were The Days takes its name from a programme on ‘the wireless’ which was so popular that it survived for almost 40 years.
