The talents of local young artists, musicians, film makers, dancers and theatre performers will be showcased at a special cabaret this December.
Chameleon II, which takes place on Thursday 6th December 2019 at More Music in Morecambe, celebrates how the arts can positively impact and enhance mental health and wellbeing and follows a similar event last year.
Among the performers will be local bands, Life In Neon and Buried In A Battlefield; magician Toby Rose, singer Amy Diggle and acapella group, LYVE.
Chameleon II has been created by 16 young producers aged 14-21 who have been meeting weekly since September to plan and devise the event. Their work will be rewarded with bronze Arts Awards.
Each session has started with an ‘emotional check-in’ and conversations about how young people can manage their mental health and build resilience.
The young producers are from Lancashire Youth Challenge, More Music, Children and Adolescent Mental Health Services (CAMHS) and the PropUpProject.
Lancashire Youth Challenge is a charity enabling young people to build confidence and resilience by taking part in a year-round programme of physical, creative and cultural activities and projects.
More Music is a music and education charity based in the West End of Morecambe, which seeks to build confidence and spirit in individuals and communities through the arts, especially music.
Lancaster and Morecambe CAMHS supports young people with emotional or mental health needs. The PropUpProject runs creative group and individual activities for teenagers and young adults who find socialising difficult and want to improve their mental health.
