Beyond Radio has appointed a former local newspaper journalist to its board of directors.
Greg Lambert, formerly content editor of The Visitor and Lancaster Guardian, has joined the board of Lancaster and Morecambe’s community radio station as a non-executive director.
Greg worked for Lancaster and Morecambe Newspapers from 2002 to 2017, originally as entertainment editor of The Visitor, then as the paper’s chief reporter and later as content editor for both The Visitor and Lancaster Guardian.
He is also known locally as a host and presenter of events including the Morecambe Carnival Saturday Main Stage and The Visitor’s annual Sunshine Awards at the Midland Hotel, and will host the upcoming An Evening with the Eden Project at the Platform.
Greg is also on the organising committee for Morecambe Music Festival.
Greg has been part of Beyond Radio since its launch in 2016 as host of the weekly Tuesday night show ‘The Resident’.
Previously Greg was a presenter on Lancaster’s former community radio station Diversity FM.
“I am delighted to have been appointed to the board at Beyond Radio,” said Greg.
“Beyond Radio plays a vital role in the local area where I have lived all my life. I look forward to helping Beyond Radio to continue to grow and provide a thriving community radio station for Lancaster and Morecambe.”
Steven Normyle, managing director of Beyond Radio, said: “I’m delighted to welcome Greg onto the board of directors at what is an exciting period in the station’s continued growth.
“Beyond Radio has exceeded all of our expectations and proven the important value and benefit that local radio, delivered locally and by local people brings to communities such as our richly diverse district.
“Greg is a highly respected member of our team and has been committed not only to the work of the station, but to our local community for many years.
“I’m delighted that Greg has agreed to join the board and look forward to working closely with him as we explore even more ways that Beyond Radio can entertain and inform our listeners – and in particular, how we better serve Lancaster and Morecambe with local news and information that we know to be important to them.”
Beyond Radio is based in Bowerham, Lancaster and broadcasts daily throughout the Lancaster and Morecambe area on 103.5FM. The station provides a wide range of music and community programming hosted by a team of volunteer presenters.
